Yankee Candle Newbie

You may have read my review of the Skittles Strawberry Scented Candle from a couple of weeks ago and shortly after I posted it, somebody recommended that I try the ever-so popular Yankee Candle, so I thought I would give them a go! As I'm a newbie, I thought I would order a few samplers first to find a scent that I like, as the larger candles are more expensive.

I chose to buy:
  • Fresh Cut Roses
  • Loves Me, Loves Me Not
  • Coastal Waters
The reason I chose these three candles is because the scents bring back fond memories of the Summer. Freshly cut flowers and the smell of the coast remind me of being on holiday and I'd much rather close my eyes and imagine I'm lying in the sun than walking outside in the rain, being hit by gusts of wind whilst my brolly turns inside out (very embarrassing when you're on your own, walking past a crowd of people on the street!)

Anyway, I can't wait to light these candles as the smell is exactly how I imagined it would be! I'll definitely be ordering some larger ones when these have burnt down!

What's your favourite Yankee Candle? Any recommendations? :-)

Thanks for reading!

Wish List: Eye Candy

I thought I would put together a collection of beauty items that have caught my eye these past few weeks. Some of the items I have wanted for a while and others I have seen many raving reviews about.

1. ELF Baked Eyeshadow Palette, California
I wanted to get this palette last Summer, but when I went to order it had sadly sold out. Now that it's back in stock, I will be sure to order this soon. I love the warm tones, honey shades and sandy colours as they're the type of shadows I like.

2. Babyliss Pro Perfect Curl
Now this is very popular and I'm yet to purchase it as it's quite expensive. The way in which it works fascinates me, as it grabs the hair and sucks it into the machine (sounds scary I know, but your hair looks amazing afterwards!) Plus, it beeps when your hair is ready, which is useful as I never know how long to keep my hair wrapped around a curling iron.

3. Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquer
Again, I've seen many reviews about these and after testing them in Boots, I'm definitely going to buy these soon. The colours are as intense as a lipstick, but it also has a creamy texture and gives a shine to your lips; I can't wait to buy these!

4. Revlon ColorBurst Lacquer Balm
I like the idea of using this on a night out, as it would be quick to apply and apparently it leaves your lips feeling moisturised, which I can't wait to try. I will definitely be buying this in a variety of shades as soon as!

5. Vanity Mirror
My sister has one of these mirrors in her bedroom and I'm constantly asking to borrow it! I need a smaller mirror for my room to fit on my desk so this would be perfect for me! Plus it looks pretty and elegant, hehe!

6. L'Oréal Paris Skin Perfection 15 Second Miracle Cleansing Oil
Lonnnng title haha! I've heard great things about this also! I really like the Skin Perfection range and I'm hoping to try more products from there, so I will be buying this! Since using the Purifying Micellar Solution, it has really benefitted my skin, so hopefully the Cleansing Oil will be just as good.

What's your favourite drugstore lip product at the moment; what do you think about the Rimmel Apocalips?

The Ultimate Smoky Eyes

Not only are these compact eyeshadow sets cute and affordable, but they also create the perfect smoky eye, with each shade labelled with the appropriate place to sweep on the lid. I decided to buy two of these in the shades "Smoky" and "Beautiful Browns", as blues suit me as I have blue eyes and browns suit me as they're quite neutral shades. At £2.50 each, you might as well give them a go!

As you can see, there is an easy guide to tell you where to place the shadow. The cream coloured base colour is a lovely undertone and helps brighten the eyes. The light brown shade that follows is perfect to place all over the lid up to the crease. The third shade is a rich, chocolate bronze colour with a hint of shimmer, which gives the eyes a nice sparkle and the final darker brown shade helps define the eye, giving an overall gorgeous brown smoky look.

This is my favourite one and I love wearing this mini palette on a night out. Filled with whites, greys and dark blues, it's perfect for creating the ultimate smoky eye and makes your eyes pop! I especially recommend this if you have blue eyes like myself, as they really bring out the colour. Last time I wore these eyeshadows, they stayed on all night (with the help of eyelid primer beforehand).

As you may already know from my previous posts, I love ELF! Their products are incredibly affordable and I've found that they are good quality too, therefore you can't go wrong!

Thanks for reading;
I hope the swatches helped you get an idea of the true colours of the shadows!

What's your favourite ELF eyeshadow?

Last Night's Outfit: Clubbing

Hello! Before I start this post, I'd just like to say a big thank you to everyone who has followed me over these past two months; I love blogging and I recently reached 200 followers on Bloglovin! It means a lot that people are actually reading what I'm writing, so thank you!

Anywho, last night I went into town with a group of friends and we had a great night clubbing. I thought I would do my first outfit post, so here you go! :-)

I love wearing a dress on a night out; it's just an easy way to dress up! I bought this dress from H&M not that long ago as I loved the floral print (plus it makes a difference to just wearing plain black dresses!) The price was around £15, which is why H&M is my favourite shop hehe!

I also got these shoes from New Look not that long ago. I wanted some comfortable wedges, so these were perfect for me! Heels usually tend to hurt me after a while, but I find wedges much easier to walk in.

I had a good night last night (the best I've had in a while) but it was chucking it down! Luckily my friends let me under their umbrella!

Hope you enjoyed this kind of post. I don't do many outfit of the days as it's hard to find good lighting in my house. Plus, it's hard getting my full outfit in, which is why I have two separate photos of my dress and shoes.

Anyway, thanks for reading!

The Liebster Award

I'm so pleased that I've been nominated for the Liebster Award six times!! That's right!! How amazing is that?! The Liebster Award helps promote new bloggers that have under 200 followers. The term 'liebster' is German for dearest, lovely and valued.

The rules are:
1. Mention the person who nominated you with a link
2. Answer the 11 questions set by the person that nominated you
3. Nominate 11 other bloggers with less than 200 followers
4. Create a new set of 11 questions for your nominees to answer

The six people that nominated me are:

Thank you so much for nominating me, very lovely of you all! Seeing as Stephanie nominated me first, I will just answer her questions, as this post would go on forever! But thanks everyone! :-)

1. What made you start blogging?
I enjoyed reading other blogs and had a lot of spare time, so decided to fill that time by doing something that I knew I would enjoy!

2. How do you define beauty?
I don't think you can define beauty really, because "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Just being an overall lovely person will contribute to your beauty and the way others see you.

3. What in life gives you the satisfaction of happiness?
This is a tricky one! I can't really answer, it just depends on how I'm feeling that day in order to determine what would give me happiness, as sometimes it's the smallest things.

4. What are your favourite cosmetic brands?
I'd have to say ELF, No.7 and Rimmel as they are the majority of my makeup products.

5. What kind of post do you like to read most?
I love rhyming questions! Hehe! Probably hauls, reviews of something that I've been wanting to buy etc.

6. What is your fashion style?
I wouldn't say that I have a particular style that can be labelled; I guess the majority of my clothes are from H&M, which are quite basic. I usually wear whatever I feel like wearing that day! :-)

7. What is your favourite OPI nail polish?
Is it bad that I don't own any? Ooops, sorry!

8. Who is your favourite Youtuber?
I don't watch beauty gurus as much as I used to, but I still make sure to watch Zoella's videos :-)

9. What is your dream job/career?
I honestly don't know! (I'm not very good at answering these questions am I?!) I'm not sure what I want to do in the future, just something that will make me happy so that I look forward to going to work everyday.

10. What are your beauty holy grail products?
Definitely my No.7 mascara, powder, Olay moisturiser and concealer.

11. What is your goal for 2014?
To make it a good one!

Strawberry Scented Room

You won't believe this, but this is the first time I have used my own candle, in my room, EVER! Yep, I've never understood the obsession with candles if I'm honest, but as the scent filled my room, I realised why people love them. Not only do they look pretty and smell good, but they also seem to determine your mood (which certain scents seem to do). I had it burning for over four hours last night and can't wait to light it again!

I think I'm able to say that I'm a candle fan now. Please let me join the club, hehe!

Can you recommend any candles that I should try?

Thanks for reading:-)

My New Favourite Perfume

I received this perfume for Christmas and I was very grateful as I love Next perfumes! I've previously owned 'Diamonds' and 'Gold' and I have to say that they are extremely underrated. I received the 100ml version of 'Sparkle' from my parents and it also came with a body lotion in the exact same scent, which has a slight shimmer to it that I absolutely love!

I also love the bottle, as it looks really pretty with the rest of my perfumes. If you purchase the perfume on its own, it retails at £12, which is a good price as it's 100ml! I would describe the scent as being quite sophisticated (ooh, get me!) and distinctive, as it has citrus and floral notes. The scent also lingers for quite a while, which is always a positive!

I recommend giving Next perfumes a go if you haven't already, or buying them as gifts for people! They aren't too pricey, plus there is a variety to choose from and test in the shop.

What's your favourite perfume, that you feel is underrated?

Thanks for reading!
P.S don't forget to comment :-)

Wish List: In Need Of A New Dress

First of all, I'd like to say a huuuge thank you to everyone who has followed me over these past few weeks. I've been blogging for around two months now and I reached 100 followers on Bloglovin' during Wednesday's blogger chat on Twitter, so thank you very much!!

I thought I would do a different kind of post today. I see these types of posts frequently posted on various blogs that I follow and I really wanted to have a go at one myself.

Now that I'm 18 I would like to go out more often, so I'm in need of more 'going out' clothes. I'm a big fan of LBDs, but I want to add a splash of colour into my wardrobe, therefore I've chosen a variety of dresses from New Look's website that I like the look of.

1. White Floral Print Edge Bodycon Dress, £22.99

I think this is such a pretty, elegant dress and the colour 'white' makes a change to what I usually wear. The floral print around the edges of the dress outlines your figure and the three-quarter length sleeves means you won't be too cold if you're going out at this time of year. Also, the floral design is perfect for when Spring arrives, so I would be able to wear this dress for the next few months!

2. Blue Round Neck Cap Sleeve Bodycon Dress, £12.99

Another bodycon! I love figure hugging dresses for when I go out and I find that bright blue really suits me. I absolutely love simple dresses like this, as you can add accessories to jazz it up, as well as a cute clutch bag and heels.

3. Blue Short Sleeve Skater Dress, £19.99

I chose this dress as it looks versatile; I could wear it during the day with leggings and boots, or dress it up and wear it in the evening with black tights. I like the fact that it's tight around the waist and then flares slightly out; very flattering!

4. Red Space Dye 3/4 Sleeve Bodycon Dress, £14.99

I absolutely adore the pattern of this dress (plus it has three-quarter length sleeves like the first dress, which I'm a fan of!) I would either add some chunky black boots with this, or heels! This dress has got a grunge feel about it, which would look great with dark nails!

New Look is one of my favourite shops; the clothes and shoes are gorgeous (and they're not too expensive!) I've loved doing this type of post, plus it's my first fashion-related post. I think I might do more of these quite soon!:-)

Which shop do you prefer to buy dresses from?

My Makeup Storage

Hi everyone! I don't know if you've noticed but I've changed up my blog a little bit! I've changed the header and added a navigation bar; I know it's pretty basic but I fancied a change! Plus, I've been meaning to add a navigation bar since I started blogging if I'm honest, I just get frustrated with html codes and whatnot. Anyway...

Sooo, yesterday I decided to clean my makeup drawer out and organise it a little bit more. I basically keep my everyday makeup in my makeup bag (pictured above) and my brushes in the ELF Small Brush Holder, with my Real Techniques brushes behind in a case.

Haha, now that I look back at these pictures, it isn't exactly neat, but believe me, it's much neater than it was before. I now have everything in compartments so I know where everything is!

In the bottom left hand corner, I have my Vaseline, lip balms and scrubs. I got some of these for Christmas, so now that I have more, I can dedicate a little compartment to them, woo!! Above them, I have some mini eyeshadow sets and loose eyeshadow dusts and glitter (and my trusty sharpener!)

Going across, I have my lipglosses and lip stains. I haven't worn lipgloss in quite a while as I've been into lipsticks recently, but I have a fair few so needed a bigger compartment.

Going across, I have my lipsticks and some lipglosses (which I use regularly!)

I have my eyeliners, mascaras and other eye-related things above in a large compartment.

My loose eyeshadows are in a smaller compartment; I'm into browns at the moment!

Then, towards the back I have mainly face products and some larger eyeshadow palettes. From blushers, to bronzers, to foundations to other random things!

I hope you've enjoyed reading this post. I'm just glad I've finally got some organisation going on!

I'm in a good mood today, which is unlike me! I think it's because I've got a bit more organised with my blog and whatnot.

Thanks for reading!
